FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we’re asked most often about booking and renting with us.

Booking

Q. How far in advance should I book?

A. We operate on an advance booking only basis. Bookings are accepted from 12 hours ahead up to 1 year in advance. Weekends and holiday periods fill up quickly, so please book as soon as your dates are set.

Q. Can I rent on the day without booking?

A. No — walk-in rentals are not accepted. Please book online at least 12 hours before your pick-up time. Note that bookings made within 48 hours of pick-up have a much shorter payment window (see below).

Q. What happens if I don’t pay straight away?

A. Your reservation stays provisional until payment is completed. It is cancelled automatically after 48 hours if payment has not been made. For bookings made within 48 hours of pick-up, the hold time is only 10 minutes.

Q. How can I pay? Do you accept cash?

A. We accept credit cards only (VISA / Mastercard / JCB / American Express). Cash is not accepted. Payment is made online before the rental begins.

Q. How is the cancellation deadline calculated?

A. From the pick-up date and time specified in your reservation. For a booking with pick-up on 10 June at 10:00, “1 month before” means 10 May at 10:00 and “48 hours before” means 8 June at 10:00.

Q. When will I get my refund?

A. The amount remaining after any cancellation fee is refunded through the online payment system, typically within about 10 business days. To cancel, contact us by email or phone (050-1785-0790).

Rates & Discounts

Q. When does the green season discount apply?

A. It applies from April to November and gives 40% off across all vehicle classes. However, Golden Week, Silver Week, Obon/summer holidays and other extended holidays and three-day weekends are excluded, and standard rates apply during those periods.

Q. Do you offer a student discount?

A. Yes — on Kei cars only, for students enrolled at Japanese schools and universities. The rate is ¥5,500 in the green season and ¥8,800 in the standard season (24 hours, including tax).

These are flat rates, so the 3-day and 7-day long-stay discounts do not apply, and the rate cannot be combined with the green season discount, coupons or any other offer. Please present your valid original student ID at pick-up.

Q. Do I need to return the car with a full tank?

A. Yes. If the tank is not full on return, fuel costs are calculated and charged according to our standard formula.

Using the Car

Q. Can I add another driver?

A. Yes. Additional drivers must also present a valid driving licence. Please let us know at pick-up.

Q. Can I rent with a foreign driving licence?

A. You can drive with a Japanese licence or an International Driving Permit issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention. Holders of licences from Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Slovenia, Monaco or Taiwan may drive with the original licence plus an official Japanese translation. See our Terms & Policies for details.

Q. Is an ETC card provided with the car?

A. The vehicles have an ETC reader installed, but you need to bring your own ETC card.

⚠️ Driving through an ETC lane without a card inserted is strictly prohibited. If this occurs, we will charge a penalty of twice the applicable expressway toll. If you do not have an ETC card, please always use a general (cash) lane and pay there.

Q. What if the interior gets dirty?

A. Ordinary wear-related dirt is not charged. However, if the interior is significantly soiled beyond what normal cleaning can handle — vomit, spilled food or drink, large amounts of mud or sand, pet hair, lingering odours or evidence of smoking — a cleaning NOC of up to ¥20,000 (incl. tax) applies. All vehicles are non-smoking and pets are not permitted.

Q. What should I do in an accident or breakdown?

A. Make sure everyone is safe, then contact the police and call us. If you selected Option B (vehicle damage) or Option C (vehicle damage + NOC waiver), your liability for repair costs and NOC is reduced or waived.

Q. How can I contact you?

A. Call 050-1785-0790 (both branches), 8:00–18:00, or use our contact form.
